The National Register for Business Support Professionals:

The National Register is open to any Business Support Professional who meets the criteria for joining.

It is designed so that business support professionals can register in one or more of the categories listed for which they meet the criteria. These criteria are based on a common standards framework which is based on the National Occupational Standards for Business Support (2006) as a core with specific standards for particular business support roles, which are sometimes referred to as core and petals.

This framework provides the basis for assessing the competence of business advisers and is supported by Investors in People UK, Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) which are responsible for Business Link, and the Learning Skills Council (LSC) which is responsible for Train to Gain brokers.

It provides a single point of contact for anyone wanting support for their business. Inclusion on the National Register is preferred for anyone who wishes to work with publicly funded or private organisations and is supported by many Government Departments.
